Father's Day

We had a great couple of days off this past weekend, while celebrating Steve.

We headed to Devil's Lake State Park.  It is a quick 30 minute drive, and the best way to get there is across on the ferry.  The kids thought it way the BEST!

As soon as we got there, the kids found this plaque.  They stopped and posed by it.  I asked if they wanted their picture taken and 2 of the 3 wanted to!

We started the day of with a hike up the bluff.  This is the first pit stop, of many.

Collin was determined to keep up with the other 2.  At times, he had to climb up the step because it was too big for him!

Another pit stop!

My love.
It pays to have a 6 1/2 year old who loves to take pictures and who is really good at it!

The boys

The little 2 were tired and thirsty so I carried Collin all the way down while holding Brielle's hand.  These two climbed higher.

This was their view.  They also saw a turkey vulture.

Steve and Isaiah did a little fishing, but right behind them you can see a train.  Collin was out of his mind excited when he heard and saw the train!  It might have been the best part of his day!

Brielle is a beach girl!  She loves it all.  She was buried in the sand.

Collin needed in on the action too!

Steve was the next victim.

His head is covered with the white shirt.

It took awhile!

Brielle caught a tadpole

Then she dropped him on the ground where we performed a dramatic search and rescue.

We capped off the day searching for a pizza place.  We found our new favorite place with pizza almost as good as Jersey pizza.  We can't wait to go back.

The next day we did a little fishing.

Brielle caught the first fish.

Collin got to hold it!

and throw it back.

Isaiah held the fish he caught.

Daddy and his little girl.

Father/son time.  Isaiah learned how to take the fish off the hook.

After some fishing, we headed downtown to the block party.  Our favorite kids performer was playing.  We had some pizza in the street and laughed!

Proof that I go to these things too!

Doing a great job!!!

Turns out he liked it!!!!!

We capped off the day with an ice cream cake to celebrate Dad!

May/June happenings

So much has happened in so little time!  On one hand it feels like the kids were just in school yesterday, but on the other hand......well...it's been a long week.

The last day of school was a half day so the little kids and I decorated the van and dubbed it the summer fun bus.  It back fired a little bit when it was raining.  We soon found out that streamers and rain and wind do not mix!

Brielle started dance class.  She was VERY sure that she was NOT going, but turns out if you get to wear a cute sparkly outfit it is worth it!!!

Big Rig Gig

We have been SO busy but I haven't had my camera out for any of it!  Finally today was the day!  We went to the Big Rig Gig today, and the kids LOVED it!

The Big Rig Gig is where a town gets construction equipment, city trucks, and rescue vehicles and gathers them in a park for a few hours.  The kids get to climb inside, honk horns, turn on lights and explore all of the vehicles.

Climbing into the fire truck

Sitting in a firefighters seat

Looking out the window.  He tried to climb in the front to sit and drive it.  I don't think that was an option for the fire truck.  His life goal is to grow up and drive a fire truck!

I have a picture of the 2 biggies at the last one we went to!

What a blast from the past, huh!?

In the back of an ambulance.  The kids told the EMT that every time we see an ambulance we say a prayer for both the workers and the person who is hurt.  He told them thank you for doing that!

Isaiah wanted to take our picture!

It was WAY past nap time, but we all had lots of fun!

A couple of weeks ago, I took the kids to the zoo.  The zoo just opened a new exhibit, so we wanted to check it out.  All Collin wanted to do was see the tiger, and boy did we see him!!!

Polar Bear Exhibit

New polar bear exhibit

Yes, he was THAT close!!!!

Walking towards us

He walked right past Collin, stopped and turned his head and looked straight at him, then kept walking.  Unfortunately, my camera stuttered, so I missed the shot!

I couldn't peel Collin away from the tiger exhibit!!!

It was the best day ever!!!
